Hi. I was thinking about this idea (to use upscaled textures) many years ago. It;'s nice that you implemented it. I wonder if you use Irfanview's "sharpen filter" you will get even more detailed textures.

I also wonder is it possible to implement this texture to vanilla Half-live version. We can use bigger texture and shrink them in map editor, or divide texture into many parts.

I hope the next step will be use "Half-life: Enhanced" advance graphics, like water reflection, shaders (cgshader), rock surface shader, or more detailed textures like in Unreal Tournament. Also experimental version of Xash 3D support software filtering (dithering).

There is also idea that you can upscale textures to 8K and then reduce to 4K to remove noise.
